Picketline Cuisine

Baguio media and students share a lunch of rice, boiled pork and cabbages with Lepanto workers at the Tubo picketline on June 13. At the Nayak picketline, workers prepare a supper of potatoes and bu-o or wild mushrooms freshly picked among fallen pine needles. Workers prepare banana stalks and coconut shells for plates.

Neighboring peasant communities continue to support the strike by donating food, like they did during the 2003 strike.

Oust Gloria!
PLAY THE TAPE. Teachers, students and other sectors in Baguio City display posters and other paraphernalia in a march-rally on June 14. They all called for the ouster of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo. Graft and corruption and election fraud begin to stir up protests against Arroyo’s rule even in areas outside of Metropolitan Manila. Photos by Noel Godinez/NORDIS Photo
