TRIBUTE TO OUR MOTHERS
(Pagpupugay sa ating mga Ina)

Kanta ti Ina
By: Judy Cariño

Agrugi ti agsapa
Awan pulos inana
Tuloy-tuloy inggana
Ti init ket bumaba

Ti aldaw ko napunno
Naduma-duma a trabaho
Agbirok sida, agluto
Agsakdo ken agbayo

Agsagana ti balon
Mapanak iti talon
Ituloy ti bunubon
Isimpa irigasyon

Tiempo panagkakape
Kwarta ti biruken mi
Para mantika, inti
Asin, sabon ken piliti

Annak dumadakkelen
Masapul panunuten
Pangalan kwarta manen
Pag-iskwela palpasen

  Uray ania ikasta
Agkurang-kurang latta
Daytoy ti gasat ngata
Kastoy kadi ing-inggana
Dong-dong ay sidong-ilay…

LABOR DAY 2005
Baguio City, Philippines

Hundreds of activists marched down Session Road in Baguio City to commemorate Labor Day (May 1). They aired their grievance to the continuing inaction of Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo to uplift the economic condition of workers and the urban poor. In one particular poster carried by a child (lower right photo), they could not help but conclude that the government does not love its people. The activity was spearheaded by Kilusang Mayo Uno (KMU) and Organisasyon dagiti Nakurapay nga Unili iti Syudad (ORNUS). Furthermore, a tribute was also given to the pioneers of the labor movement in the Cordillera.

Thumbnails are 160x120, digitally processed in Adobe Photoshop 7.0 with Auto-contrast, Auto-color, and Sharpen commands. High-resolution (800x600 and original 1600x1200) photos, taken with Canon A40 and unretouched (except for image-resizing for 800x600 photos) may be requested from editors@nordis.net.
