BCBC’s LSV now part of two government units
BAGUIO CITY (Mar. 13) — The Lucky Summer Visitors is now part of the major summer activities of two government units.
Beside being part of the three-month long Baguio City Summer Vacation activity, the LSV is also included in the Strawberry Festival of the neighboring town of La Trinidad.
La Trinidad, only six kilometers from the heart of the city, will honor the chosen LSVs on Black Saturday, March 22, with courtesy calls with Benguet Gov. Nestor Fongwan and Mayor Artemio Galwan, who will join them in the strawberry picking activity at the La Trinidad strawberry farms.
The LSV is a project of the Baguio Correspondents and Broadcasters Club, Inc., the umbrella organization of all media clubs in the city and Benguet in partnership with the City of Baguio, Chevron, Smart and the Department of Tourism – Cordillera. It will officially start on March 20 right after the official oath taking of the new set of BCBC officers.
The LSVs will be chosen at the Caltex station in Saitan, in Rosario, La Union on March 20 and will for four days be given a red carpet treatment with free accommodations and tour in the city and the neighboring towns of Itogon and La Trinidad.
BCBC President Pigeon Lobien said the tentative schedule of the SumVac event will be a tour of the city at Burnham Park, SM City, Lourdes, Mines View Park, among others. Then the lucky guests will be motored down to Itogon, Benguet to explore the Balatoc Mines on Good Friday.
From there, they will proceed to the Philippine Military Academy to get a glimpse of the military life, to talk with cadets and enjoy a lunch of boodlefight.
On Black Saturday, they will have a tree-planting activity at the Busol Watershed and followed with a tour at La Trinidad where they get to meet the governor and the mayor. They will also get to visit the Tomay Farms before they go to Tam-awan Village.
After three days of touring Baguio and the neighboring towns, the activity winds down with a visit at the City Market and the city’s famous wagwagan (thrift shops) on Easter Sunday, where they will be given a lunch before the sendoff.
The LSV is one of the more enduring activities of the BCBC, which also celebrates its golden anniversary.
