Lady DJ files sexual harassment raps against boss

BAGUIO CITY (Mar. 8) — An FM radio lady disc jockey, who filed sexual harassment raps against her former boss at a station here, asked other colleagues to come out as she hit her assailant at the rally during the International Working Women’s Day at the Igorot Park.

Ema Ruth Gregorio, 36, who just resigned from the BigFM, used strong terms to describe her alleged assailant Macky Ymana Magpili, 57, BigFM chief operating officer and broadcaster. Gregorio claimed she suffered due to Magpili’s sexual advances on several occasions last year.

Gregorio told startled media colleagues that her son even witnessed these advances. “Gusto raw niya isumbong ang mga nakita niya,” (He wanted to retell what he saw) Gregorio said referring to her son’s indignation.

She claimed Magpili had victimized many other women colleagues that she urged them to join her crusade against sexual and other forms of harassment in the workplace.

Earlier, Gregorio filed a sexual harassment complaint at the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Cordillera (CIDG-CAR) against Magpili. She narrated in her 7-page sworn statement her “sufferings” from acts committed by Magpili from June 12 to November 22, 2005 despite her protests.

In her sworn affidavit, Gregorio also claimed that Magpili attempted to force himself on her flaunting the latter’s position at the station.  On August 26, Magpili reportedly said, “Kinakalaban mo ako.  Baka nakakalimutan mo na boss mo ako.  Pakipot ka pa” (You are going against me. You might have forgotten that I am your boss. You’re playing hard-to-get)

Such acts continued, Gregorio said. Adding that on September 7; October 2, 15, 16, and 27; November 4 and 22, almost the same malicious acts were done against her by Magpili.

Gregorio’s complaint alleged that Magpili persistently and maliciously touched, smelled and kissed her hair on several occasions last year.

“[…] With lewd design, continuously touched her all the way to the…buttocks, and in fact, respondent, and in repulsive manner, fondled the complainant’s chin and touched her cheek against her will and consent, and with evident desire, whispered malicious words to quote ‘Em, mag-date naman tayo sa Hotel Elizabeth,’ “ her complaint further read.

On January 1, Magpili reportedly changed Gregorio’s program schedule to 9 p.m. to midnight from an original schedule following his own program at daytime.  She tried to resign after she reportedly confronted Magpili about the change in schedule and his alleged sexual advances. On January 16, she resigned to get rid of Magpili’s malicious touches and his persistent invitations to a hotel date, including his public claims that she is his “girlfriend.”

Magpili said he has yet to see Gregorio’s complaint, denying her allegations. Earlier this week, he aired over his program “Big Factor” that he fired Gregorio prompting the latter to file raps to get back at him.

The case Gregorio filed against Magpili for violation of Section 3 (a)1, 2 (a) at 3 (a) of Republic Act 7877 or the Anti-Sexual Harassment Act of 1995, was endorsed by CIDG-CAR regional chief Sr. Supt. Marvin Bolabola and is now at the Baguio City Prosecutor’s Office.

“Hindi ako lalantad nang ganito kung hindi ako nagsasabi ng totoo,” (I will not expose myself in this manner if I am not telling the truth) Gregorio stated. # Ace Alegre and Lyn V. Ramo for NORDIS
