PMA homecoming attendance disheartens Biazon |
||
BAGUIO CITY (Feb. 18) — Senator Rodolfo Biazon expressed disappointment over the low turnout of PMA alumni who attended this year’s 108th Alumni Homecoming. In an interview, Biazon explained that President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo (GMA) allegedly ordered some high ranking officials who are PMA graduates, not to attend the event. This resulted from the rumor that a destabilization move would be staged by some of the attending officials on the same day. However, no sign of any destabilization took place. According to PMA’s record, as of 11 o’clock in the morning yesterday, there were 1,339 alumni from batches 1940 to 2005 who attended. On the other hand, two tarpaulin posters were seen at an over pass along Bonifacio Road near the city public market. The posters read, “we the cavaliers do not lie, cheat, nor tolerate among us, those who ‘do all right sir?’” and “sa aming mga mistah, upper class at under class, ang mga linya ay naiguhit na sa pagitan: ng tama at mali, ng katotohanan at ng kasinungalingan, at ng katarungan at pang-aabuso. Saan ka lulugar? – BK-MKP.” These tarpaulins contain the symbol of the Magdalo group. Furthermore, officials refused to be interviewed about their stand on the current political crisis in the country especially threat on different destabilization plans like coup ‘d etat. Meanwhile, some of the top government officials present in the event aside from Biazon are the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) newly appointed secretary Gen. Angelo Reyes and Philippine National Police chief Arthuro Lomibao. Presidential daughter Luli Arroyo is also present in the said event. # Florence Batawang, Joanne Lacsina and Keith Sison/UP Interns for NORDIS. Post your comments, reactions to this article |
