GMA gets -71% rating in Ilocos Norte political survey |

BAGUIO CITY (Jan. 31) — Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo got a failing mark in recent random political Survey in Ilocos Norte, particular in the municipalities of Marcos, Solsona, Paoay, Sarrat, and Piddig. According to the recent political and economic survey conducted by the IBON Foundation in coordination with the Idao Databank and Archive Organization (IDAO) of the Northern Media and Information Network (NMIN), respondents gave GMA the lowest grade they can, which is negative 71%. In the national consolidated national survey, GMA’s rating is at negative 75%. All respondents interviewed also called for GMA’s resignation to save the country’s economic crisis. “Kasapulan la unay nga agikabil tayo iti tuldok tapno sumardengen daytoy a panagrigrigat tayo,” (We have to put an end to our hardships) one of the respondents added. The same survey showed that 86% of the respondents said the economic crisis is worsening due to the continuous price increase of basic commodities. While employment rate is going down, and the proposals for wage increase of private and government employees are still pending in congress. Only 14% of the respondents said that their lives did not change. Furthermore, 97% of the respondents claimed that the price increase of necessities is due to the expanded value added tax (E-VAT) and oil price hikes. Meanwhile, 64% of respondents are not in favor of the charter change (cha-cha) the GMA administration is pushing; whereas, 5% said they know nothing about the cha-cha, while the remaining 31% had no answer. In addition, 66% of respondents said they are aware of the proposed charter change and 33% said they do not know.
