Kalinga folk get health training

TABUK, Kalinga (Jan. 27) — Over 50 individuals from Dao-angan, Poswoy and Ababa-an, Balbalan attended the Health Seminar Workshop from January 20 to 24, which was organized by the Community Health Education Services and Training in the Cordillera Region (Chestcore) and the Dao-angan Farmers Association (DFA) held in Comyaas, Dao-angan.

The nation and region’s health situation were discussed on the first day. The participants learned from the discussion that the lack of government health services and inaccessibility of medicines are the reasons why people die of curable diseases. The participants added that financial constraint and lack of road networks leading to town centers where the hospitals are adds to the inaccessibility of medical services in the interior communities.

Chestcore on the following days gave basic health care skills training, where participants learned basic medication for common curable diseases.

The local barangay and municipal government units also extended support to the said project. # Jimmy Suwagon for NORDIS
