Session Rd. rerouting scheme starts Nov. 29

BAGUIO CITY – The city will implement the traffic re-routing scheme covering Upper Session Road beginning Tuesday (November 29) through December 12.

The scheme which was approved by Mayor Braulio Yaranon in his Administrative Order No. 251 was proposed by the Planning and Design Committee which the mayor formed to look for ways to improve traffic flow in the area.

As per the rerouting plan, all private vehicles and taxis are allowed to pass from Lower Session Road towards Governor Pack Road-Harrison Road Intersection (University of the Cordilleras) or make a left turn towards Post Office Loop (Postal Bank).

All public utility jeepneys are allowed to pass from Upper General Luna Road through Father Carlu Loop (BB-PICAG) and make a left turn towards Upper Session Road rotonda and proceed to Upper Session Road (Casa Vallejo).

No parking will be allowed on either side from the junction between Father Carlu Loop and Upper General Luna Road up to Session Road; either side of Post Office Loop and the side of BPI building in Session Road up to the driveway of Baden Powell in Gov. Pack Road.

The loading and unloading area will be at the Post Office Park along Session Road. The recommended parking areas will be at the parking sites at the Baguio Cathedral, Porta Vaga, Session Road and at SM Baguio.

The other one-way routes are Governor Pack Road up to Jollibee; Leonard Wood Road (from Junction North Drive towards Upper Session Road rotunda); Father Carlu Loop (from Junction Post Office Loop-Upper General Luna Road down to Junction Session Road); and the side of Session Road Post Office Park-Father Carlu Loop Junction up to Upper Session Road.]

The following will remain two-way: Upper Session Road, Entry-Exit gates of Baguio Cathedral, Upper General Luna Road to junction Post Office Loop-Father Carlu Loop; and Governor Pack Road (from University of the Cordilleras to Victory Liner bus terminal.)

The proposed traffic scheme was made by the planning and design committee earlier created by the mayor to study all ways to improve the traffic situation in said area. The said body is co-chaired by city planning and development officer Art Orig and architect Joseph Alabanza.

The mayor said appropriate signage will be placed in all strategic areas and the Baguio City Police Traffic Management Branch office will strictly supervise the implementation of the scheme to ensure that motorists will be properly guided. # Aileen P. Refuerzo/PIO
