Lepanto workers elect new set of officers |

MANKAYAN, Benguet (Oct. 23) — Members of the Lepanto Employees Union-National Federation of Labor Unions-Kilusang Mayo Uno (LEU-NAFLU-KMU) chose their new set of officers in the concluded special local elections (LE) on October 22. The LE was held in order to replace the 19 union officers who were terminated by the management of Lepanto Consolidated Mining Company (LCMC) last September. The termination was in exchange of the reinstatement of their fellow rank-and-file workers after they staged a 101-day strike. The LEU-NAFLU-KMU almost won landslide against the LEU independent union. Christopher Bautista who won the presidential position garnered 1,210; Vice-president elect Manuel Binhaon got 1,180; 1,155 for Secretary-elect Mario Soposop; 1,107 for treasurer-elect Alejandro Sulang; 1,108 for Asst. treasurer-elect Dionibong Saldo and 1,145 for Business manager-elect Arnolfo Campos. The new members of the union’s Board of Directors (BOD) are: Michael Ayangdo for the Administration department; Jesus Gumeyac for the Finance dep’t.; Materno Edic for the Mechanical Engineering Dep’t.; Nerizzo Bautista and Cesar Lokino for the Mill Dep’t.; James Gomgom-o and George Patyang for the Mine Mechanical and Electrical Dep’t.; Patricio Balong-angey for the Technical Services Group Dep’t.; Samuel Rosito, Warren Managtag, Diego Salioc, Richard Lamlamag, Willy Degay, Michael Lang-agan, Manuel Enyaka, Higenio Ginpac, Anastacio Kimpay, and Juanito Bagwan for the Mine Dep’t. The total number of the cast votes is 1,529 or 79% of 1,927 qualified voters with 12 challenged votes and 52 spoiled ballots. # Aldwin Quitasol/KMU-Cordillera |
