City prepares dev’t for Burnham Park

BAGUIO CITY (Oct. 14) — Mayor Braulio Yaranon issued last week Administrative Order No. 190, creating a Technical Working Group (TWG) to formulate a master development plan for Burnham Park. The TWG was created to address various aesthetic, economic, social, manpower and maintenance concerns relative to the preparation of the master plan.

Yaranon said this is in response to the city council’s request to the city environment and parks management office to submit a plan for the park. The park needs improvements, refurbishments and innovations to maximize its revenue-generating potential. This is also to reinstate the park’s claim to being the city’s “Pride of the Place.”

The Burnham Park Management Authority (BPMA), as tasked by Yaranon, was to submit a comprehensive assessment of the park’s present land use and activities. Furthermore, he directed the BPMA to consider the following guidelines: making the park safe, clean and pedestrian-friendly; economic activities shall be highly regulated and consistent with pertinent environment development controls; beautification activities shall ensure maintenance of all flora and fauna areas; and infrastructure shall be limited to basic utilities. # Aileen P.
