||
With less than a year to go before its centennial, Easter College is welcoming a new president in the person of Dr. Benjamin Reyes Yngente. He was formally installed as the institution’s second president in a liturgical celebration and investiture rites on September 3, 2005 at the Holy Innocents Episcopal Church, Guisad, and Baguio City. Among the ECP hierarchy who installed Yngente on the investiture service were EDNCP (Episcopal Diocese of North Central Philippines) Bishop Joel A. Pachao, Diocesan Chancellor and Baguio Congressman Mauricio Domogan, Bishop Yamoyam, and Trinity College president Dr. Josefina Sumaya. At least 250 guests from the alumni, faculty and staff, friends and members of the Episcopal Church of the Philippines witnessed the presentation and appointment of Yngente as the second president of the Easter College. Dr. Yngente, who hails from Carigara, Leyte, has been serving Easter College as acting president since April 2004. Prior to this, he was connected with the Trinity College of Quezon City as an associate professor and head of the Total Quality Management (TQM) program from 1996 to 2004, assistant dean from 1980 to 1982 and a faculty member of the College of Business Administration from 1978 to 1982. He was also involved, in various capacities, with cooperatives. He also had a stint with the government through the Processing Center Authority and the KKK- Ministry of Human Settlement. For his professional preparation, Dr. Yngente completed his Doctor of Education major in Educational Management in 2003 and Master in Management in 2001 at the Trinity College of Quezon City. He also earned units in Master in Applied Business Economics at the University of Asia and the Pacific in 1990. He graduated from Trinity College of Quezon City with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Economics and Banking and Finance in 1977. He is also involved in various organizations such as the Brotherhood of St. Andrew where he is the vice president at large since 1996; the Association of Marketing Educators (AME); the Finance Executives (FINEX); the Philippine Association of Graduate Educators (PAGE); and the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities-AAI where he is an accreditor. With this background, he was able to hone his skills to become proficient in the following areas: strategic management, planning, feasibility study preparations, crisis management and micro financing; corporate planning (Total Quality Management), thesis and dissertation writing; budgeting, monitoring and evaluation, managerial finance and forecasting; and organizational development. These skills would be handy in his new post, steering Easter College into its centennial. Dr. Yngente is married to Leonora N. Yngente, currently the vice president for administration and finance of Trinity College of Quezon City. They have four children: Angelo Jay, Allan Karl, Alberto Martin and Lara Vanessa. # Mayette Iniguid for NORDIS |
