City forms integrity body BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 26) — In his bid to weed out grafters in the local government, Mayor Braulio D. Yaranon through Administrative Order 124, formed the integrity board to do lifestyle checks and gather evidence pointing to irregularities in the government. The integrity board will conduct discreet lifestyle check among city employees and officials and national government agencies working for the city. It will also gather and submit documents indicating acts of graft and corruption. The body shall be composed of at least five members. # Aileen P. Refuerzo/PIO * * * * * Massive clean up seen on Saturdays BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 26) — Saturdays have been designated as Baguio’s clean-up days. All barangays shall clean the surroundings to rid their places of dreaded and disease-causing wastes. Administrative Order No. 132 urges people to sustain the clean-up activities primarily to safeguard the health of the populace and also to keep up with the city’s image as a tourist destination, an educational center and summer capital. Baguio City is in the Hall of Fame of the cleanest and greenest highly urbanized city in the country. Mayor Braulio D. Tourism slump hits local craftsmen BAGUIO CITY (Aug. 26) — Knitters and needle-craftsmen at the Hangar market, here are among the hardest hit with the slump of tourism here. Eden Jose, a stall-owner for knitted products revealed that for three
years now, her wares remain in the shelves waiting for prospective buyers.
She said, like silver craft, woodcarving, broom-making and other crafts,
knitting produces novelty items that tourists look for in Baguio markets.
