Ilocos Norte farmers massacred in broad daylight

BAGUIO CITY (July 20) — Three farmers were reportedly massacred in broad daylight on Tuesday in Brgy. Aring in Badoc town, Ilocos Norte.

Sherwin Retutal, Samuel Tolentino and Norman Renen, all farmers, were reportedly resting under a thatched hut when peppered with bullets by still unidentified men.

Two of the victims immediately died while the third succumbed at the Sinait Hospital in Sinait town, also in Ilocos Norte.

Ilocos region police director Chief Supt. Alfredo de Vera has ordered the Ilocos Norte Police to prioritize the investigation of the killing even as two weeks ago, an Australian resort owner and his Filipina wife survived an attack also in Badoc town.  The couple has reportedly left the town after the attack that almost killed the Australian businessman. # Ace Alegre for NORDIS
