Cordillera youth in Manila observe Kaigorotan Youth Week

BAGUIO CITY (Mar. 31) — Cordillera youth in Metro Manila gathered last Mar. 19 at the Samba-likha Amphitheater ECP Mission Center in Quezon City to commemorate Cordillera Indigenous Youth Week more popularly known as the Kaigorotan Youth Week (KYW).

The KYW is celebrated in commemoration of the youth’s role in the opposition of destructive projects in indigenous communities and the assertion of indigenous peoples’ and youth rights.

The activity served as the first step in building unity among Cordillera youth organizations and individuals in Metro Manila. It also provided a venue for the participants to get acquainted and appreciate the diversity of the culture of other provinces in the Cordillera region. Most of all, the participants were informed about the history of the Cordillera youth movement and the current situation of the region through the speakers during the gathering.
