BAGUIO CITY — The City Council through its committee on lands has proposed a resolution to warn the general public to take extra measures of precaution before buying properties in the city to avoid being victims of land speculators.

According to Vice Mayor Daniel Fariñas during the executive and legislative meeting of the City government of Baguio on last September 2 cited the proliferation of land scams in the city. He said many land buyers have been victimized by the indiscriminate sale of properties here.

During the meeting and even in his weekly “Ugnayan”, City Mayor Mauricio Domogan cautioned the people not to believe in land speculators who were reportedly using his name to convince prospective buyers to pay up to P60,000 to avail of parcels of land within the Baguio Dairy Farm at Green Valley along the Marcos Highway.

He said he never approved such sale of Baguio Dairy Farm lots.

He encouraged these victims of scrupulous land speculators to file charges. He also advised the would be buyers to report these unlicensed speculators so they can be apprehended.

He warned the public especially those who go to the Peoples’ Park a popular place where the speculators look for their prey.

Council committee on lands chairman Leandro Yangot was tasked by the City Council during their regular session to file the resolution for their approval, posting and publication. # nordis.net
