BAGUIO CITY — The City Social Welfare and Development (CSWDO) honored 14 outstanding senior citizens during the opening program of the Filipino Elderly Month Celebration 2014 on October 3 at the Baguio Convention Center (BCC) for their services and contribution to the development of the Baguio elderlies.

CSWDO Betty Fangasan assisted Baguio City Mayor Mauricio G. Domogan in giving the awards to the recipients of the Outstanding Senior Citizens Achievers Awards (OSCAA). The 14 awardees were selected as per screening and evaluation conducted at the CSWDO Conference Hall on September 18, 2014.
The leadership award goes to 84 years old Baguio veteran mediaman Narciso Padilla. The recognition for their efforts in resource generation was given to Naty Pumihic 78, Amada Casaña 78, Corazon T. Garcia 78, Cristina Estipona 78, Adorado F. de Guzman 70, and Federico Balanag 81.
Four were awarded for their selfless community service. They are Alberto C. Bravo 75, Eugenia Floresca 68, Florence C. Pudlao 78, and Erlinda R. Calanio 78. Isaias Barongan and Edita Ibarra were named awardees for their efforts in public service.
The Huwarang Nakakatanda award goes to Alfredo M. Buado 82.
Meanwhile, Sunshine Supermart was recognized by the CSWDO because of its compliance to the Republic Act 9994 or “An Act granting additional benefits and privileges to senior citizens, further amending Republic Act no. 7432, as amended, otherwise known as “an act to maximize the contribution of senior citizens to nation building, grant benefits and special privileges and for other purposes”.
The opening program of the month long recognition to the elderlies here in Baguio is sponsored by the Baguio City government, CSWDO in partnership with the Federation of Baguio Senior Citizens Association (FBASECA), the Philippine Government Retirees Association (PGRA), Veterans Federation of the Philippines (VFP) and the Blessed Association of Retired Persons (BARP). # nordis.net
