The campaign for the trees at Luneta Hill is far from over and now we have another area getting levelled and losing all those pine trees.

As with the SM property, some officials might wash their hands off the case again reasoning that it is the national agencies that gave the permit. How inutile can our local officials be if that is the case. How in the world can they allow something like this to happen under their very noses. What use are their positions if they cannot even protect and nurture nature in their own territories?

We agree Baguio has its beautiful weather, nice surroundings and beautiful people that is why those who are not as fortunate as we are Baguio residents would want to share a piece of Baguio. As with SM, businesses have to expand. But if it is at the cost of nature, we have to disagree with the expansion or destruction. There are many ways to preserve the existing trees and nature without bulldozing the area and killing all those trees.

Would not those who buy or rent units at Moldex prefer a place with the smell of pine and swaying branches, hear the rustle of the wind on the pine needles than see concrete and concrete and concrete? It is said that most of the earthballed trees on SM are dead. We have been saying all along “Save those Trees” since they are the lungs of the central business district.
