LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — A businessman and resident of Barangay Puguis was turned over by concerned citizens to the La Trinidad Police for illegal possession of firearm and violation of the Commission on Election (Comelec) gun ban.

Reports from the people who apprehended Efren Andiso Hopdayan said he was arguing with a fellow businessman George Peping Amado at around 10:00 P.M. at the vicinity of La Trinidad trading post at KM 5 Pico.

According to the reports, Hodaypan suddenly brought out a gun and cocked it in front of Amado.

The concerned citizens then apprehended Hodaypan and put him in a citizen’s arrest. When the police arrived at the area, Hodaypan was in a private vehicle. The arresting officers then turned-over Hodaypan to the police and brought him together with Amado at the La Trinidad municipal police station.
Amado filed criminal cases against Hodaypan.

Meanwhile, La Trinidad Police Chief Senior Inspector Victoriano Boaging Paac said this is the first case of violation to the Comelec gun ban in the municipality since its implementation last January 10, 2010. The said gun ban will last until June this year.# nordis.net
