Marky’s burial Monday in Mountain Province
BAGUIO CITY — Brought home to Sinto, Bauko, Mountain Province early morning Thursday, promising actor-singer Mark Angelo Cadaweng Cielo’s remains will be buried Monday.

IGOROT HERO. The family of the late Marky Cielo was overwhelmed with the support shown by Baguio City residents during his wake at the Resurrection Church Wednesday. The famous young Igorot star was brought to his hometown in Bauko,Mountain Province, Thursday.
A mass at 10:00 A.M. will be celebrated before his burial at 2:00 P.M., said Marky’s close-in uncle, Chito, in an interview with Nordis during the wake at the Cathedral of the Resurrection. here.
Marky will be buried near their house, added Chito.
Like his short wake in this city that drew in a massive throng of mourners and supporters, his burial right within his maternal kin’s yard expects thousands from Mountain Province where Marky showed his support particularly to cultural activities like the Lang-ay, a yearly celebration of the various towns in the province.
Baguio wake
Keeping their support overflowing for Marky Cielo during the Starstruck search in 2006, people from various walks of life dominated by the youth showed their sympathies to his family by paying their last respects at the Cathedral of the Resurrection.
Marky was found dead in his bedroom in Mission Hills Subdivision, Antipolo, Rizal, on December 7.
His mother went to wake him up for an early engagement that morning but discovered Cielo lying unconscious. He was brought to the hospital but was pronounced dead-on-arrival.
Overflowing support
“This is one wake where thousands of supporters came to pay for their last respect,” said Catherine Cardenas, a student from Laguna.
Visiting the remains of Marky, another student who failed to attend her classes just to see Marky for the last time was struck by the number of people in the wake.
“Despite the overflowing numbers, it is very organized. The line extended outside the Cathedral where people could view Marky’s remains, then towards the area to take their seats,” she points out with joy being in the area but sad for the early death of Marky.
Marky was a student of the Saint Louis University here before he won in the 2006 Starstruck search. During the search, residents here mostly from the youth sector showed their support to him which made a difference with other contestants.
Big loss
The early death of Marky, a humble youth in his 20s, is considered a big loss to responsible youth among his people.
“A promising career, an Igorot youth model, is gone. Sayang,” said Rev. Dave Tabooy of the Resurrection.
“The death is untimely but I am sure the real cause of his death will never be known,” added lawyer Kissack Gabaen from Guinsadan, Bauko.
