Philippine Basketball League to visit Baguio
BAGUIO CITY (Apr 29) — The commissioner of the Philippine Basketball League (PBL), Chino Trinidad came to Baguio to promote the game two of the 2008 PBL Emino sports cup semi-final games that will be held here.
“The games are a way for us (PBL) to touch base with the local fans who may not be able to watch us on television,”said Trinidad.
The PBL will also hold a free basketball clinic a day before the games. The clinic will be offered to kids interested to learn basketball, especially those who are not able to pay for basketball clinics.
“Even if they are only wearing slippers as long as they want to learn the game, we will teach them,” said Trinidad.
The commissioner was positive when asked about the future of Philippine basketball. “We Filipinos have a great chance of competing abroad, basketball is not just about height but also about brains and heart,” he said.
Only two of the four teams that will participate in the semi-final games were named because the quarter-finals are still to be played in the coming weeks. Teams Harbour Center and Hapee Toothpaste are one and two in the standings and have an outright birth in the semi-finals.
The games are set to start at 3 pm on May 12 and will be hosted by the University of the Cordilleras (UC). # Grace Nacu for NORDIS
